Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) is the flagship scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) implemented by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). The objective of this Skill Certification scheme is to enable Indian youth to take up industry relevant skill training that will help them in securing a better livelihood.

Traditionally non-academic, skill education is related to a specific trade, occupation and/or vocation. It prepares students for jobs based on manual or practical skills. The board has taken charge of empowering school students with essential life and employability skills. The CBSE curriculum for skill education offers 19 skill subjects at the secondary level and 39 skill subjects at the senior secondary level to be covered during an academic year. This addition in the Indian education system will not only upgrade the proficiency of the upcoming generation but also widen their career prospects.

Registered as a Society under Societies Act in 1991 ATDC, was approved as a Nodal Agency by the Ministry of Textiles, Gov in the year 2010 for implementing Integrated Skill Development Scheme (ISDS) of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India and by training over 3,13,500 candidates under ISDS and during the decade. ATDC participates in RFP of various Central and State Government Agencies in 22 states across India including the State Skill Missions, NSDC, MSD&E etc. In the last decade over 3,13,500 candidates have been trained through ATDC Pan-India network of about 85 centres with about 78% wage placements.
